Version 0.5.0

Based on some feedback received by members of the CF community, I will be converting this custom tag library to use a CFC for use within cfscript (if need be).

As a result, the next version will contain custom tags that will merely call functions of the magicExcel cfc.

magicExcel 0.4.0

Version 0.4.0 is out.

Since there have been no complaints, the version has been brought up to the next y-level release. Please let me know if you are having any issues or frustrations.

With this release is a large bug fix pertaining to missing character entities in the event of lone ampersands in the table cells. (The browser will parse it just fine, XMLParse() isn't as forgiving.)

You can download a zip file here (Zip File) or you can checkout with SVN at http://svn.riaforge.org/magicexcel/.

As with any release, I welcome your feedback. I want to make this library as robust and as simple to use as possible.

magicExcel 0.3.2

Version 0.3.2 is out. With this release there are a few bug fixes and the header alignment for built-in themes has been changed to align left rather than right.

You can download a zip file here (Zip File) or you can checkout with SVN at http://svn.riaforge.org/magicexcel/.

As with any release, I welcome your feedback. I want to make this library as robust and as simple to use as possible.

Textile!

I've just been introduced to another possible data format to convert into excel...textile. If you're unfamiliar with textile, it's a markdown format used to generate html. I think it might prove useful for generating an excel file.

What do you all think?

Would build_from_textile be useful?

magicExcel 0.3.1

In this release:

  • build_from_table updates
    • Auto Column Widths (automatic, by default)
    • Support for Explicit Column Widths
    • Apparently my previous versions weren't applying the data formatting to the spreadsheet. This has been fixed.

You can download a zip file here (Zip File) or you can checkout with SVN at http://svn.riaforge.org/magicexcel/.

As with any release, I welcome your feedback. I want to make this library as robust and as simple to use as possible.

magicExcel 0.3

With this release there are a couple new tags: build_from_query and build_from_json. In addition to the new tags, there is also expanded documentation available in the download as well as an excel file documenting all of the possible color combinations you can use with color and fgcolor.

You can download a zip file here (Zip File) or you can checkout with SVN at http://svn.riaforge.org/magicexcel/.

As with any release, I welcome your feedback. I want to make this library as robust and as simple to use as possible.

A New Hope!

Behold! The magicExcel custom tag library.

ColdFusion 9 added a lot of functions that make working with Excel documents easier. However, I felt that it could be simplified even more by abstracting those functions into something already familiar...HTML.
